Forum suggestions
This is this forum's central Suggestions thread. Please post everything you want done here.
As for a suggestion from me, the "Read this before posting" thread, as well as this one too, need to be visible from everywhere, just like the forum rules are on the top of every page on /talk.
And another one for the admin: please disable the map on "View who is online" for normal users. Keep it on for mods, though.

Re: Forum suggestions
Umm, sticky threads appear on the top of their respective forums, but there was another option as well, don't know exactly, check and click for a while.Xian Nox wrote:The "Read this before posting" thread, as well as this one too, need to be visible from everywhere, just like the forum rules are on the top of every page on /talk.
Somewhere in the administration panel there should be an option to disable it.Xian Nox wrote:And another one for the admin: please disable the map on "View who is online" for normal users. Keep it on for mods, though.

Re: Forum suggestions

Re: Forum suggestions
If you want that thread to be viewed from all forums, you need to make the topic a "Global Announcement" topic.
To disable the "view online" thingy for normal users but, to keep for mods, you need to set permissions for it. Forumotion uses a modified phpbb3 ACP if I remember correctly, so I can't say for sure some things exist or some things are where they should be.
Here we go:
Don't hit never or nobody, not even you will be able to see the online list.
Also, this takes out the viewing of profiles, member-lists and the online list. So think about what you are doing.
Edit:
3. Requests ARE allowed but under certain circumstances
Could you tell us what they are?
Lastly, we may be mods but you haven't assigned us to any forums so, we can't do anything.

Here we go:
- Log on to your ACP.
- Click on the "Users and Groups" tab.
- Scroll down and look to the left of the screen, there should be a link that reads: "Groups’ permissions". Click it.
- Hopefully, you see a box that says something like "Look up usergroup". And a drop down box.
- Select "Registered Users" and hit the "submit" button.
- This will now bring another page with another box with drop down box.
- Click the link that reads "Advanced Permissions".
- The box will expand with lots of tabs and settings. Click the profile tab.
- More settings... There should be a setting at the bottom that reads: "Can view profiles, memberlist and online list".
- Click No and hit the "apply permissions" box or the "apply all permissions" box. It doesn't matter.
Don't hit never or nobody, not even you will be able to see the online list.

Well, I can't do anything.
Also, have you all ever tried the RPG mod for phpbb3?
Re: Forum suggestions
I can't do anything either, only the administrator can fix things back.waratte wrote:Well, I can't do anything.Xian Nox wrote:That's only since the remodeling.waratte wrote:Lastly, we may be mods but you haven't assigned us to any forums so, we can't do anything.

Re: Forum suggestions
Cool.
I'm just asking in general, if anyone has used it before. I was interested in using it for my forums, to try out RP. I think MHX AIR has it for his forums and you could get it also XxGodOfWar2xX, as a suggestion. It could be fun.
There are a many of them, I think, so I can't list a link.

Re: Forum suggestions
Is it possible for a users signature to be retroactively updated on old posts? As I attempted to add a sig for myself, but old posts do not seem to gain it. (Looking at other users posts, this may also be the case.)
This could make it rather confusing, as sigs links/info becomes outdated, and also, for one like myself, is cumbersome as to the frequency I change my sig (since random neat things come up and I'm like, "omg, must sig this~")
Um, yes, thank you.

From the point when you add a signature, it appears at the end of your posts. If you update it, all signatures update.jc_gargma wrote:Is it possible for a users signature to be retroactively updated on old posts? Re: Forum suggestions
Is there a time delay before it takes effect? As my old posts should already have a sig showing, but do not. (Neither do many of yours, which made me suspect it was not only my imagining it.)

Re: Forum suggestions
No. At first I didn't have a sig, then I added one. The old posts didn't get a signature, though. My new ones add it automatically. Now, if I update my sig, all of them that have a sig will have the updated sig.jc_gargma wrote:Is there a time delay before it takes effect? EDIT: To fix, edit your posts and find a checkbox called "Attach signature", then check it.

Re: Forum suggestions
ok my request curcumstances are:
Requests to convert themes: YES
Requests for ISO/CSO downloads, No but you may help them with their issue if its not loading right or whatever.
Requests for Plugin porting:No...but this may change if enough members arrive.
Requests for Homebrew making: HELL NO!
NO FAKERS,TROLLS,Or,FLAMERS ALLOWED!!! (MY No 1. rule)
No DJGODMAN either.
and as for the admins of the forums, they are as followed:
Xian Nox,Waratte: The off-topic section. (just in case...)
D1,and nisarg_kolhe: CXMB themes,
mrjaredbeta(GhettoBeta59): Down/Upgrading,
bshanehi: (when i get around to making you a mod,) The-Plugin Section.
anymore fixes, let me know so that this forum isn't in beta phase no more.

Re: Forum suggestions
About forums...in summers I created one and spent a lot of time on it and also I added everything which needs to be added, but due to just 1 spelling mistake i never released it...and now maybe it would have been pulled down due to inactivity...on suggestion...I think theme needs to be changed Its too contrast!
Re: Forum suggestions
I would have to second this. A particularly stark contrast is a quote inside another quote.nisarg_kolhe wrote:on suggestion...I think theme needs to be changed Its too contrast!

A Chat and better organisation.
We need a chat, and more categories with better organization would be excellent. Perhaps a few broader categories would be nice.

Re: Forum suggestions
Yeah, being super specific sometimes really hurts potential conversations. I know this forum was originally supposed to be for talking when /talk was down ( I believe you said something like, somewhere o_o ), but, /talk isn't down and when it does, it's quickly put back up.
The forums should have more liberal categories if it ever does want to see more activity. If you look at other sites with a nice amount of activity, there are LOTS of categories and forums for posting in.
Also, we could use a chat, these guys did it: http://augustine.forumotion.com/
As you can see, they're using the same forum solution you are using so, you can do the same.
So, I upvote what TheMercenary says.

TL;DR - Add more forums, Add a chat
